Véloscénie by bicycle: from Parigi to Mont Saint Michel

Véloscénie is a well-organized and accessible pathway which make possible, starting from Paris, to reach the beaches overlooking the Canal Channel and in particular the charming island of Mont Saint Michel.

The itinerary is just over 400 km long, flowing mostly flat on green roads exclusively open to bicycles and pedestrians. The climbs are few and very short. The route of Véloscénie can be divided into seven stages:

The Paris region – 80 km
The first section of the itinerary begins at the center of Paris at the Notre Dame cathedral. From here a long green road allows you to get away from the city until you immerse in the local countryside. After passing the town of Orsay, there are two short and simple climbs leading up to the Rambouillet Castle. Epernon marks the end of the Paris region.

The Eure River valley – 37 km
In this stretch the bike lane is maintained at low-traffic country roads along the river Eure. You will meet the little town of Maintenon, with its castle and aqueduct that brought water to Versailles, and the village of Chartres.

Towards the Loire – 75 km
Véloscénie continues along the Eure River path through several small villages including Illers-Combray, Marcel Proust village. You will be in close contact with nature, surrounded by grain fields to Nogent-le-Retrou.
