The Val di Taro is a corner of the Tosco-Emilian Appenines, very close to the border of the Liguria. Which mountain bike enthusiasts know very well. The valley is crossed by many paths ideal for cycling even with fat wheels.
Particularly evocative are the towns of Borgo Val di Taro and Compiano.
The first is a real point of reference for the whole valley and boasts a very interesting historical center. There are the remains of a medieval castle, Romanesque churches and historic palaces. Borgo Val di Taro is also very famous in the area for the Porcini mushrooms IGP.
Instead, Compiano, placed among the “Most Beautiful Villages of Italy”, is surrounded by tall medieval walls on which stands a very well preserved castle.
Tour of Lake Buono
The trail takes about 39 km between Passo della Colla and Passo Santa Donna until you reach Lake Buono. You will pedal mostly on dirt road immersed in nature among woods rich in mushrooms.
Tour of Monte Pelpi
The route develops for about 35 km mainly on dirt road up to the top of Monte Pelpi at 1,479 m. The descent is long and fun and allows you to visit the localities of Masanti di Sopra e Farfanaro.
During the road you also have the opportunity to admire a magnificent panorama on the Val di Taro.
