Mountain biking on Mottarone pedaling from Stresa to Arona

On the Mottarone with mountain-bike to admire the panorama of lakes from its top.

Mottarone is a mountainous range located between the provinces of Verbania and Novara, overlooking the Piedmont shore of Lake Maggiore. It is a historical meeting place, popular with hikers and bikers.

To climb the summit, the proposed route passes on the road, allowing you to enjoy the breathtaking panorama of the lake and the local villages during the climb, but you can to take advantage of the cable car that starts from Piazzale Lido di Stresa, the nearest resort lying on the shore of the lake.
You always ride on asphalt and dirt roads through beech and birch forests, alpine grasslands and prairies.

From the summit of the Mottarone, with its special round shape, you can admire Lake Maggiore, on the one hand, and Lake Orta, on the other. The view also extends from the Alps Marittime to Monte Rosa, from the Po Valley to the summit of Monviso.

Continuing, the route begins to descend from the 1,500 m of the Mottarone to about 1,000 of Monte Falò then towards Torriggia and Monte La Guardia. Then you meet the little town of Ameno, a natural balcony overlooking Lake Orta, and you continue following the directions for Invorio.

Now in sight of Lake Maggiore, only 7 km away from the final destination of the route: Arona, the city of San Carlo Borromeo, bishop of Milan.
The country remembers this character with a large copper and bronze statue visible from the shore of the lake. Also worthy of note are the ruins of the Rocca Borromea, twin of the Rocca di Angera still intact on the opposite shore of the lake.

On the Mottarone, do not miss the opportunity to take a ride on the scenic sled-way of Alpyland amusement park or taste typical local products such as alpine cheeses, distillates, honey, chestnuts and strawberries.
