Cyclotourism in the Territory of Faenza

The territory of Faenza, for its conformation, is particularly suitable for the cyclotourism. The city is located along Via Emilia about half way between Bologna and the sea. All around is a vast plain with fruit trees and vineyards. Within a short distance there are also gentle hills with medieval villages and fortresses.

Just walking out of town, the roads are isolated and flow quietly in the middle of the countryside. Pedaling in this landscape is really an exciting and relaxing experience.

In the South of Faenza, the plain soon leaves space at the mountain, at the first extremity of the Appenines. It climbs up to 600 meters, but summing up the various rise and fall of the territory it is easy to complete a 60-70 km route with a difference of 1200 meters. A good workout on the pedals in therefore necessary.

A few kilometers west of the city there is the Regional Park of the Chalk Vein. The highest peak in the park is Mount Mauro, the destination of numerous cycling and walking tours. But also the populated centers of Riolo Terme and Brisighella are to be visited, located on the hillsides on the edge of the protected area.
