European pilgrims who went to Rome to pray in St. Peter traveled through several streets, including the famous Via Francigena. In Piedmont one of these pilgrimage routes is twisted and turned between the French border and the city of Turin. Today it can be rediscovered by the slow tourism of those who travel on foot or by bike.

The road actually has two possible beginnings: at the Monginevro pass or at the Moncenisio pass.
After the first km the roads rejoined in Val di Susa and the route continues to Turin.
The route is described here in the section from Susa to Turin, but the GPS tracks provided are complete.

Susa was and is an important crossroads because here the two roads from the alpine passes to the French border meet. From the north of the Moncenisio and from the south of the Monginevro.
Although it is a very ancient town, with far-reaching Celtic origins, Susa shows largely Roman archaeological remains.

Leave the town to the Ciclovia Valley of Susa. The track is very well marked so as to make the navigator unnecessary. We ride on the plain along the Dora course to Torno, where the river is thrown into the Po.
About 8 km further you reach the medieval village of Bussoleno and then the town of Malpasso.

If the energy in the legs is enough in Sant’Antonino di Susa, there is a detour leading to St. Michael’s Sacrament. Impressive as ancient, this abbey is among the most visited places in Piedmont but the road to get there is uphill and 15 km long.

Returning to the main path of the Ciclovia of Val di Susa you arrive at Sant’Ambrogio in Turin.
It is also a very well preserved and pleasant medieval village to visit.
The final goal, Turin, is now thirty kilometers that slide easily along the end portion of the Val di Susa that has become ever broader.
