The Val di Fiemme and Fassa cycling track

Moena_panoramaThe Val di Fiemme and Fassa cycling track is located in Trentino and is one of the most impressive and popular in the area.

The start of the itinerary, about 40km long, is located south of Molina di Fiemme, on the left shore of the Avisio stream which follows much of the track. The path develops immediately uphill towards Predazzo. The first stretch is the one with the sweetest slope and, up to the Waterfall locality, you almost don’t realize you are uphill. The village is ideal for a stopover, here you can see the great jumping of the Rio of Val Moena.

The Val di Fiemme and Fassa cycling track continues with some ups and downs, then crosses a forest and reaches the bottom of the Cermis cable car. On this same track was the railway of the valley and you can still admire iron bridges and abandoned stations. Cross the small town of Lago di Tesero and then head for Ziano di Fiemme.

In this section, the synergy between man and nature has produced a wonderful landscape that alternates plowed fields, verdant pastures and well-preserved forests.
Following the route of the ancient railway line you arrive at Predazzo, about halfway through the route, and start the most demanding part. In order to arrive in Moena, in fact, you go back to pedaling along the Avisio stream which now enters in a narrower valley not far from Forno.

So you trespass in Val di Fassa. You reach Moena (lying on a hollow between the Dolomites and surrounded by the dolomitic groups of the Catinaccio) uphill crossing the river several times.
The next destination is the village of Soraga, about 3 km away fortunately all on a slight downhill.
It’s time to enjoy the panorama in tranquility, you have a beautiful view of the valley with the peaks of the group Sella and Pordoi in the background. After crossing the village, you proceed for a few kilometers between meadows and woods to Pozza di Fassa.
