The territory of the Alta Langa is characterized by the presence of remarkable architectural works realized with the technique of the “Dry Walls”. These are typically rural buildings such as farms, cellars, farmhouses, for which was used the characteristic “Langa Stone”.
Exploring this area easily traveling by bike, is possible along the “Street of Stone Houses”.
The cycling tour begins at Santo Stefano Belbo, one of the main inhabited areas of the area, in the province of Cuneo. The first stretch of the route stretches along the vineyards from which the famous Moscato del Piemonte is born.
As proceeding the rows of vines disappear to leave room for the vast hazelnuts trees from which derived the characteristic “Round and Kind Hazel of Langa”. This product is one of the most popular in the area, protected by the IGP quality brand.
The route crosses the towns of Cravanzana, Torre Bormida, Gonsegno and Camerana and then goes up to the town of Gottasecca. The next descent arrive in the valley of the Uzzione stream.
You reach Scaletta Uzzone and Pezzolo Valle Uzzone, then climb up a new climb up to a sanctuary where you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view. To return to the starting point you will pedal near characteristic stone terraces and then through the historic village of Castino.
