The Silent Way is a ring path of about 600 km that runs within the National Park of Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni. It is divided into 15 stages
The starting point, and the arrival, is set in Castelnuovo Cilento, a delightful hamlet just a few kilometers from the sea dominated by an ancient medieval tower. Here you can pick up the “Silentina“, a document attesting the cyclotourist’s generality and keeping track of his travels along the way. By submitting the Silentina to the accommodation facilities you will also be entitled to a discount. With an average of about 35 km per stage, low traffic and 70% asphalt the Silent Way is a suitable route for everyone. The only exceptions of a certain importance are Monte Cervati, which reaches 1,898 mt and Monte Gelbison or Monte Sacro 1,705 mt, but they can easily be bypass. The path runs along the sea in more places: from Pollica to Castellabate and from Morigerati to the Gulf of Policastro passing through the beautiful Palinuro.
The best periods to deal with the Silent Way are certainly those from April to June, when the nature reawakens, and from September to November, with the woods which staining itself orange, red and yellow. Is necessary a robust tourism bike with a stable luggage carrier, where fasten the luggage and a large bag on the handlebar. Two bottle-holder will be sufficient, but you should stock up water at every fountain of the countries crossed.
