The province of Asti by bike

Asti and its province are the ideal territory for cycle excursions in nature. Cycling in the province of Asti means tackling rolling hills and visiting very picturesque historic villages, the main protagonists of this environment. The paths are characterized by continuous ups and downs on paved roads that run along the vineyards and climb up the top of the hills.

Between Asti, Alba, Roccaverano and Nizza Monferrato you can arrange several easy routes. While not finding any organized cycle track in the area, it is easy to bypass traffic by pedaling along secondary roads.

The most suitable bicycle to ride in the Asti area is certainly a robust road bike or cycle touring bike with slightly tethered tires. On local roads, mountain bikes would be too heavy and impractical.

The streatches in the plains are just a few, the ups and downs of the hills is almost continuous and the trend of the roads is the same. There are long climbs and long descents during which you can admire the panoramic view.

To visit absolutely is the historical center of Nizza Monferrato, very well kept, welcoming and gracious. Near San Marzano Oliveto there is a beautiful country church dedicated to San Giovanni, an ancient Romanesque parish church of the area.

In Roccaverano do not miss the opportunity to climb the tower from which you can enjoy a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside. In the village of Santo Stefano Belbo you can visit the birth house, now transformed into a museum, by the writer Cesare Pavese.
