Piedmont: Alpe Noveis by bicycle

The Piedmont hills of the Vercelli and Biella areas are the ideal territory for cycling. In particular, starting from the municipality of Roasio, it is possible to venture along many paths and itineraries.
The area is also perfect for road cycling as the traffic is almost non-existent. Cycling on the secondary roads through cultivated fields and small villages, you have the opportunity to immerse yourself in culture, gastronomy and local traditions.

The best times to visit this territory are autumn, spring and summer. Each season offers wonderful landscapes with bright colors.
Traveling up and down the hills, it is impossible to get bored. The local routes are suitable for everyone, but there are some peaks that it is better not to face if you are not prepared.

We propose an itinerary that develops in the territory of Alpe Noveis, better known as the “Swiss of Biella”. The route, about 92 km long, starts in Roasio and reaches 930 m. The climb becomes challenging in the final stretch between 700 m and 900 m. You struggle through beautiful forests of beech, chestnut and birch trees.

The descent that follows is very scenic, but the climbs are not finished. The route also includes the ascents of Mosso Santa Maria and Soprana. The last stop is the La Sella refuge. From here it becomes again downstream until returning to the starting point.
