Mountain biking in Val Canali in the shadow of the Pale di San Martino

Considered as one of the most beautiful alpine valleys, Val Canali is between 1,900 and 2,900 meters in altitude on the Dolomites. Its territory can be easily visited by bicycle thanks to cycling trails and well-kept paths. In particular, the proposed route is suitable for mountain bikers and cyclists who are well-trained.

THE PATH
Starting from Fiera di Primiero you cross the bridge over the Canali stream ad you will reach the cycle track which following the course. Later, you leave the bike path for a dirt road that begins to climb right away. The dirt road joins the Passo Cereda provincial road, continuing uphill with quite steep slope, around 15%.

A few miles later, at Lake Welsperg, you are back almost on flat surface. At the lake there is a bar with a refreshment point that is perfect for a stopover.
Once on the saddle, on the right you can admire the Pale di San Martino, the largest mountains group of the Dolomites. The sight, so closely, is really breathtaking.

The area of the Pale di San Martino is under the protection sphere of the homonymous park and there are also some mountain biking trails.
The trail continues on dirt road and after some curves it returns steeply. At the junction you take right along path No.738 which brings us back to the paved road and finally downhill towards Cereda Pass.
Here there is a shelter where you can stop and rest your legs.

Then you go down quickly towards Malga Fossetta and further down the dirt road where you will find the panorama of the Pale di San Martino.
Once you arrive in Stiozza you can return to Fiera di Primiero continuing downhill until reaching the Provincial Road of Cereda Pass again.
