Montefalco is an Umbrian town known for its excellent production of red wine: the Sagrantino di Montefalco. The village, of ancient medieval origin, boasts an enchanting old town in a panoramic position. From Montefalco you can enjoy a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside and the Umbrian hills.

Around the village there are also numerous dirt roads ideal for mountain biking. The proposed route runs right on some of these paths, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves of the area.

Along the “Via del Sagrantino” you always ride on wide white roads without technical difficulties, except for a very short stretch that is slightly challenging for those who are less trained. It is about 25 km in total.

Leaving the historic center of Montefalco goes down towards Camiano. After about 3 km turn right to get the dirt road which will lead us to the village of Fabbri. Once the country’s cemetery has been reached, another path allows us to reach Turrita by pedaling in the midst of long rows of vines.

To overcome Turrita and proceed towards Cortagnone you have to face the hardest stretch of the path, a tiring climb for those who are not trained.
The dirt road starts to Cortagnone and after some ups and downs brings back in Montefalco, passing by the town of Casale. This last stretch is the most beautiful and interesting landscape of the itinerary for the continuous succession of hills.
