The Kyll-Radweg, or the Kyll River Cycle Track, is a simple itinerary of about 130 km which runs not far from the border with Belgium and Luxembourg in central-eastern Germany. The track connects the two towns of Dahlem and Trier, the oldest in the country, always keeping a slight downhill (at least in this direction).
The river is the natural element that accompanies the track throughout its course. Next to the final section of the bicycle is the railway line connecting Cologne to Trier. So if you want, you can alternate bike stops to short train trips.
Along its route, the Kyll-Radweg crosses the Eifel plateau and allows you to visit numerous small villages, castles and medieval rocks. You always pedal into odor orchards and along magnificent lakes.
The cycleway crosses several other slopes that connect directly or indirectly to other rivers, allowing the cycling tourists to customize their itinerary.
At Hillesheim, a 20 km long bicycle trail reaches the village of Ahrdorf and continues along the river Ahr. On the other hand, Ehrang begins another runway running along the banks of the Saale river.
A section of about 20 km between Bewingen and Densborn is particularly suitable for children. It is called the Kinderradweg, the Children’s Cycle Track: there are outdoor playgrounds, adventure parks and attractions for the youngest.
At Trier-Ehrang, the river Kyll flows into the largest Moselle river. From this point there are only a few kms to the arrival at Trier.
