False mesh – Is a useful component for cyclists?

False mesh allows you to create a stable, yet easily removable, link on the bike chain. In practice this component allows to open and close the chain quickly without resorting to the use of the chain-tool.

This feature is very useful when, during a trip, the chain needs an emergency maintenance. In fact, during a stressful change of ratio or excessive stress, the chain may breaks and opens. If we have a false mesh, the problem is resolved in one moment. In this sense it is a very useful component for cyclotourists who pedal in remote areas and must be prepared to deal with such accidents.
False mesh can also be useful if you need to remove the chain very often, however a rather remote chance.

Obviously there are false meshes with dimensions and tolerances of various sizes, suitable for each type of chain, both single speed and 6 to 11 speeds.
Those with 11 speeds, roads or mountain bikes, however, must be replaced whenever they are open because they are the most stressed ones and when they are reassembled they may open up and cause a fall.

Assemble a false mesh takes only a few minutes and is a rather simple operation.
You must first remove the old chain, measure the new chain and remove the superfluous meshes with the chain-tool. The false mesh is fixed to the chain with a special clamp.
Once the false mesh is mounted, the whole chain must be carefully lubricated.
