From Roscoff to Kiev, crossing the heart of Europe.
Eurovelo 4 is about 4,000 km long and it tuches 7 countries: France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland and Ukraine.

Bruges
The route begins at the port of Roscoffin in Brittany, a peripheral region of France still very much attached to the ancient Celtic traditions. The route follows the profile of the coast faithfully in the immediate hinterland through vast fields and small towns. The same landscape is found to continuing in Normandy until it reaches Le Havre.
The Belgian section of the EuroVelo 4 is only 72 km, scarce length but high quality landscapes. Particularly beautiful is the city of Bruges whose historic center, with medieval palaces that look in the mirror of the artificial canals, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Once you cross Bruges you cross the Dutch border and continue along the north coast, along fully flat bicycle paths. Then the route approaches, without going through the city of Rotterdam, and then goes into the Dutch countryside on twisting side streets that avoid traffic.
Eurovelo 3 continues in Germany and initially follows the “Cycle path of the Rhine” crossing Cologne and Bonn. The track follows the course of the River Meno passing from Frankfurt and then crossing the gentle wooded hills of the region to the border with the Czech Republic.
Here the route is interesting from the altimeter point of view, climbing up and down with slopes around 3%. The first town to meet is Pilsen, famous for Pilsener beer exported all over the world, and after a long stretch in the open countryside you arrive in Prague, the beautiful capital of the Czech Republic, one of the most beautiful in Central Europe. The route resume through the fields until Brno, known as the F1 world stage until a few years ago.

Kiev
The Polish border is now at short distance away and is easily reached. Eurovelo 3 continues to Krakow and is worth the visit to its historic center, particularly impressive in the evening. The rest of the Polish section flows quietly between small countryside villages to the border with Ukraine.
Despite the low tourist attraction that Ukraine affects over Europeans, following the route you can visit many ancient cities such as Lviv and Zytomyr. The Eurovelo 3 route ends in the capital, Kiev.
Please note: Not all the route sections have been completed yet, we recommend that you check the Eurovelo official website for more information.
