Cyclotourism in San Vito, on the east coast of Sardinia

The one in San Vito, southeastern Sardinia, is a historic village that despite the external influences have been able to keep intact the traces of its past. The village is in the Sarrabus region and, like many others in the area, it was involved in the activity of the local silver mines.

San Vito is a perfect starting point to visit the eastern coast of the island and the hinterland (Via degli Argenti and Parco dei Sette Fratelli). The area is ideal for cycling and mountain biking.
The proposed itinerary is in fact a mix of asphalt, dirt roads and single tracks that wind up not far from the sea. About 55 km with just 400 m of altitude difference.

THE PATH
Starting from San Vito you head on the asphalt road to the town of Muravera, important citrus production center. You cross the town and then continue on country roads and dirty roads.

These narrow streets lead up to the entrance to the protected forest area of Baccu Arrodas where you can visit the Nuraghe S’Acqua Seccis. It’s one of the thousands of narughe scattered around Sardinia, the only witnesses to a civilization that has disappeared for centuries.
Once on top you have the chance to admire the cost from above: a truly amazing panorama!

Going back in the saddle you cross the SS125 and go down slowly towards the Porto Leccio. Here begins the most difficult stretch of the trail, especially suited to mountain bikes. A technical trail leads to the harbor beach and then leads to Cala Sa Figu, another wonderful beach.

After a few miles in a slight uphill, the route descends again to Capo Ferrato where it turns and returns to the starting point. The return route is almost always close to the coast and allows you to visit the Colostrai pond and the ancient Tower of the Ten Horses.
