“Atlas is the backbone of Morocco; the ancients saw in it the God Atlas intent to support the sky with his arms, while the myth of Ulysses ends here where the Hesperides garden is located. The proud Barber people, of Semitic origin, inhabit the Atlas. These troubled people were never subdued or absorbed by the conquerors, always finding a tough but safe haven in the mountains and in the desert.
An itinerary in that ignored part of Morocco accurately avoiding imperial cities perennially invaded by traffic, annoying sellers, false guides. With our mountain bikes we head for the Ouzouz Falls, crossing the Atlas for the Draa valley, the Todra gorges and the Saghro valley.”
