Cyclotourism in Catalogna is an adventure suitable for all which gives unique emotions and unforgettable views. The landscape of the region is an evocative succession of gentle hills, wonderful cities and mountains in the distance, the majestic Pyrenees.

You drive on complitely safe green roads, away from car traffic, or on countryside roads where peace and quiet reign.

The proposed itinerary is a route of about 271 km with a difference in height of 400 m. It’s ideal for a 4-5 day bicycle tour in the most authentic Catalogna from the foot of the mountains to the coast. It’s preferable to leave between March and October, however avoiding the hottest summer months (July and August) for high temperatures, room prices and rooms availability.

The route starts at Olot, a lively town at the foot of the Pyrenees, from where you can take the Ruta del Carrilet, the green road leading to the sea. Shortly after starting pedaling, you will meet the Pedra Tosca Park. Inside the protected area alternate basalt rocks and steel plates shaped by man: a unique balance between natural landscape and architecture.

After about 44 km, a long panoramic descent leads straight to Anglés. The next destination of the itinerary is the city of Girona, about 65 km away. Girona is very fascinating tourist metropolis and well connected with Italy thanks to the local airport.

Leaving the city, you are back riding on dirt road, very quiet and particularly relaxing, immersed in nature. Then you reach the coast at St. Feliu de Guixols.

The itinerary now begins to flow along the Costa Brava through small and large countries overlooking the sea. Some of these are popular tourist resorts, therefore equipped with hotels, restaurants and services, while others are simple coastal towns and less accustomed to tourists, especially those on bike. Ideal destination for stopping is the village of Estratrit, about 84 km from St. Feliu.

The last stretch of the route ends in Cadaqués. To get there, you always ride along the coast, but you must also face a 8 km climb, not too demanding. Cadaqués offers rocky beaches and panoramic coves that attract tourists every year. In the village of Port Llgat there is also the Home-Museum of the famous painter Salvador Dalì. Plus, for those on a bicycle, there is also the Cap de Creus Nature Park, ideal for hiking and guided tours.
