In the internal Campania, between Benevento and Casalbore, there is an easy cycle path among the most beautiful in the region.
The proposed itinerary is about 70 km long and has a 600 m difference in altitude. You pedal on dirt and asphalt roads, on low traffic roads.
The route starts from the historic center of Benevento at the Arch of Trajan and then leaves the town in the direction of Foggia and then Apice. You continue for about 6 kms immersed in a truly impressive rural landscape that soon leads on the shores of the Ufita River.
Before entering the wild Valley of Miscano it’s better to stock up on water in the locality Iscalonga.
You cross the river to the sign that mark the entrance to the province of Avellino then turn left to continue on dirt road. After passing through the locality of Olivara-Montecalvo the road begins to climb on panoramic bends leading to the village of Casalbore. Later on, going up again, it’s possible to visit the ancient Sannite necropolis.
For the descent it use the Regio Tratturo Pescasseroli Candela, old route used for the transhumance. Continue towards Buonalbergo to the village of Pianella then return to Benevento and finish the itinerary.
