Cycle track “Via della Magliana”

Cycle track “Via della Magliana”

The Cycle Track Via della Magliana is an easy 30 km journey that winds through the southern suburbs of Rome. The cycle path is entirely flat, flowing along the Tiber, following faithfully its loops. Care should be taken when raining because in some parts the river invades the track or leaves on the path plastics and branches that hinder the bicycle ride.

The ideal starting point is the ramp that descends from the Trastevere side of Ponte Sublicio. From here you start to ride in the direction of the river port. You return to the road level at the Lungotevere degli Inventori. You will head for Ponte Marconi and then along Via della Magliana.

The runway goes from the city center to Riva di Pian Due Torri. It continues in the direction of the mouth of the river, but moves on the opposite bank to the height of the Viaduct Rome/Fiumicino.

As you progress, the degradation becomes higher: you are surrounded by fields with pasture goats, caravans and abusive landfills. Later, you are in the open countryside near the Tor di Valle racecourse. The track then ends near the Bridge of Mezzocamino.

Those who have a robust mountain bike can go further: the track is dirt and you have to be careful because sometimes you lose yourself in nature.
