Rimini is a city full of history with an ancient Roman past, still today very evident in the city center. Well-known destination for summer vacation, in its territory, Rimini offers several cycle routes both on the waterfront and in the hinterland. The latter is precisely the case of the Cycle Track of Val Marecchia.

It runs about 35 km along the banks of the Marecchia River between Rimini and Novafeltria. This is an ideal track for mountain bikers because the bottom is dirt, although well kept. Starting from Rimini, the cycle track runs steadily in a slight climb with an average slope of 1%, easy to handle even for those who are not trained.

The route begins at the Tiberius Bridge, crosses the XXV Aprile Park and goes along the cycle path along the Marecchia River. If possible, make a stop at Borgo San Giuliano, one of the oldest districts in the city and the most loved by director Federico Fellini. In his memory there are many murals that portray him and the characters of his films.

You are pedal in open countryside surrounded by hills and small villages in the distance. About halfway down at the foot of the Malatestian Rock in the village of Verucchio. An ancient, fortified village with a special charm.

Then cross the river to continue pedaling on the opposite shore in the direction of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Saiano. The church is on top of a rocky spur near an ancient tower of the X or XI century. The cycle path continues on the plain through the village of Pietracuta where you are forced to return to the right bank of Marecchia.

The end of the route is Novafeltria, home to one of the most important historical mining museums in Europe. Before you get there you need to cross the river for the last time.
