Bolsena’s Lake is a large volcanic lake formed more than 300,000 years ago. It is located in the Lazio region known as “High Tuscia” particularly renowned for its panoramic views and suggestive hills.
Around the lake develops an easy cycling tour that has as its reference point the village of Montefiascone. Here you will find the signs to go along the entire lake. The itinerary closely follows the contour of the lake almost by completing a perfect ring, the track moves away from the shores just near the town of Bolsena. For some km we are obliged to go along the Via Cassia.
Walking along the shores of Lake Bolsena we have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in a truly fascinating natural landscape that is the destination of many migratory species. The lake is a real paradise for birdwatching and hiking enthusiasts. In addition, you can visit many villages rich in history and traditions. In particular, Bolsena merits a visit to admire its historic center. Nearby are Bagnoregio, Civita and Bomarzo, real jewels of this territory.
The local products are easily available in the local villages shops and of course in the charming restaurants overlooking the lake.
