Romania is one of the most fascinating countries on the European continent: boasts a millennial history, it’s rich in traditions and in typical products.
In the heart of the country there is the region of Transilvania, famous for the presence of numerous medieval castles including that of Count Dracula.

The proposed itinerary reaches this castle, the fortress of Bran, and is about 26 km long. It starts from the city of Brasov, about 200 km north of Bucharest, the capital. It’s here the famous Black Church, so called because of its walls turned black after a fire in 1689. It’s one of the largest gothic churches in Eastern Europe so don’t give up visiting it.

The very first stretch of the road that connects Brasov to Bran is quite busy and you have to pay attention to the cars while riding. Traffic is reduced only once the town of Crisian has passed, about 14 km after departure.

You are pedaling largely in the open countryside passing villages, farms and pastures.
Interesting to visit is the town of Rasnov. It’s a small, well-maintained locality with an ancient fortified citadel overlooking the modern country. On the hillside there is a sign with the name of the city just like in Hollywood.

Shortly before arriving at Bran, the road turns uphill. Fortunately, exertion doesn’t last long.
The country is invaded by tourists and the Dracula Castle is definitely the most visitated attraction. The fortress, starting in 1920, became the official residence of the royals of Romania and inside it you can admire several rooms with original furnishings of the time.
