Everything depends on the type of journey you want to face, from the planned stages and from the period of the year you choose.
In general, you can’t miss a GPS navigator that is certainly more convenient than paper maps. It’s fixed to the handlebar and you don’t have to stop to consult it, but any electronic device needs to be recharged and the trip must be planned taking into account this need. An appropriate lighting kit is equally indispensable if you want to travel a few kilometers even after sunset. On the market there are many different: LEDs, batteries, etc. It’s also ideal a bike maintenance tools kit: Allen keys, Philips-head and flat-head screwdrivers, chain tool, tires and pump to re-inflate the wheels. Before leaving it’s good to do practice with the kit and be sure to succeed in the most common repairs.
With regard to clothing, we recommend padded shorts or with special caseback to ensure comfort and breathability even after hours on the pedals. In contact with the skin of the torso it’s better to wear a breathable sports underwear that absorbs sweat and avoids annoying irritations. Short-sleeved or long-sleeved or tank top models can be easily found. Above, you can put virtually anything that makes you more comfortable. Also don’t forget a screen jacket if you are traveling in areas not always hot.
The most recommended shoes are equipped with plug-in options for the cleat, through which pedal becomes less strenuous. The best are those for trekking because when you walk the cleat keeps hidden in the sole and doesn’t bother.
Finally, the helmet is important. Would be fine any lightweight and ventilated model as long as it’s reliable and strong. These features improve the price, but beware, not make savings on your safety! The helmet also protects from the sun on hot days, it’s better wear it always.
